My first task was to explore the extraterrestrial elements appearing in the movie. The brief at that time was to design those in a different style than what we usually see in the Shaun the Sheep universe. I had a lot of fun doing early design explorations of Lu-La (still called Gimble at that time), her UFOs, the subterranean ‘Secret Base’ and some “cinematic” views of the farm. I later helped to develop the Farmageddon fun fair, painted some key moments of the movie and eventually designed the bad guy’s Mech, which made it to the screen almost identical to the concepts!
Rough beat-boards: I painted these from storyboard panels and rough sketches given by the directors. The aim was to explore moods and lighting ideas on selected key moments of the film.
